Before our team can support you with issuing a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), please check that you meet the following essential eligibility criteria.

Essential eligibility Criteria for a Student Visa extension

  • Academic Obligations: You must have remaining academic obligations (e.g., attending classes, dissertation/project thesis submission, research). You are not eligible if you are only awaiting the Assessment Board's decision. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) does not recognise this as an academic obligation.
  • Attendance: Your on-campus attendance must be required and monitored in line with RGU’s Attendance and Engagement Policy
  • Student Finance: You must have cleared all student debt with the University.
  • Passport: You must hold a valid passport which has not expired.
  • ATAS (if applicable): Our team cannot issue a CAS if an ATAS certificate has not been applied for/obtained in line with UKVI rules and set timelines

Please note: This is not an exhaustive list. There may be other specific eligibility criteria based on your individual circumstances and UKVI rules that we must adhere to.

How to Contact Our Team Regarding a Visa Extension

If you believe you meet the above criteria, please log a question on ASK RGU under 'Extending your Visa'. A Visa and Immigration Adviser will assess your eligibility for a Student Visa extension, and if one is required, they will explain the visa extension application process.
