Student visa holders are not permitted to travel outside of UK during term time, as you have academic obligations to participate in on Campus teaching and studying. However, the University recognises that there may be emergency situations where students will need to travel during term time.
What is the travel during term-time process?
Download a 'Travel Request Form' at least 2 weeks prior to planned travel date (except in emergencies).
Complete section 1 and forward the form to your School Administrator for authorisation.
If the request is not authorised your School will inform you and the Student Immigration Team with the reasons for the refusal.
If the request is authorised the School Administrator will send the form to the Student Life Hub.
The Student Life Hub will issue your travel letter.
Traveling without prior authorization from your School will put your Student visa at risk of being withdrawn.
What is term-time?
Term-time includes any period during which you have academic obligations/responsibilities, including the Connect and Reflect weeks (these can be clarified with your School).
